My two main questions about this picture are:
1. is the cropping good
2. how do you feel about the wings in front of the body. I really like it but I'm curious to see if anybody else does.

Yep, posting your photo here instead of just the link is likely to get you more responses. I was going to pass on by for this reason but was prompted by the comment above about how good it was.
Definitely a very good shot. I think your cropping is spot on, the thistle head adds some depth. The two OOF sticks in front and on the right are a bit distracting though, cloning them out would definitely help.
As for the wings, they look fine where they are.

Thanks for the compliments. I dont think I'm good enough with photoshop to clone the two twigs out of the shot, otherwise I would have.
