Default cat on the roof

Hi,
I would like to ask help from my fellow DPSers to criticize my photo here
Would like to know what you think about the composition of this shot. I'm actually still starting in photography and would like to learn a thing or two about composing shots.
I took this shot from a window, a cat on my neighbor's roof

Tamron 70-300mm DI II

The composition doesn't bother me, but the picture looks flat and soft to me.

it looks like you, or the camera miss focused on the log and not on the cat's face. In portrait work (people, or animals) the focus should always be on the eyes

@Tito87
this is actually one of my first B&W shots, perhaps you could suggest of possible adjustments I can apply to make my picture not look flat?
@autofocus
thanks for the reply, I think this is a miss on my end. this cat is on the roof daily, i'll try to take a new shot and now focus on the head area

What program do you use to edit your pictures?

I'm sorry, but I'm not familiar with Lightroom. Do you have anything like curves, or levels in Lightroom?
