This is my first photography post on this forum. I took this shot of my cat. I am concerned with the exposure and dof of the shot. Any suggestions or comments? Here's the info on the picture.

The exposure looks ok. It might benefit from a tweak of the levels as I don't see strong blacks or whites. (You don't always need that depending on the effect you are going for but something to consider in post.)

The DOF is actually nice but I think the focus is off or you suffered from some camera shake. A 1/6th shutter speed is pretty slow for a living breathing subject, even if you are using a tripod. You might try upping the ISO and see if you can 't get that shutter speed up to around 1/60th.

I do like what you saw with the light. It's very nice and soft coming through that window. Definitely worth some more tries, that is if Kitty will cooperate.

And welcome to DPS!

I agree about the exposure and the DOF. I would recommend trying to lead your shot. Have a little more empty space where the subject is looking to give it more life. your eye will automatically follow the line of sight and it will make you want to know what it is seeing

Thank you both for your comments. I will try composing the shot at a few different angles to see if I can capture a more captivating angle. And I will try increasing the ISO, which I did not realize would allow me to use a faster shutter speed. Fortunately, this is the cat's favorite sleeping spot, so I really just have to wait for similar light. Thanks again!
