I'm new to photography, and this is one of my first shots using my new camera. Any suggestions are welcome

Here's some info about the photo:

Exposure 0.004 sec (1/250)
Aperture f/5.6
Focal Length 135 mm (taken with a Canon 18-135 IS)
ISO 400

I'm new to photography, and would welcome any suggestions to improve my photos.

Thanks!

Good point. I could have done that, but I expected it to run away after it had completed eating.

If you have Photoshop or something similar perhaps you could lighten his face with the dodge tool. Maybe crop it just a little to the left of his back as well and then you'd have a pretty good shot.

tighter crop would do in this case. Background i dominant this way, crop tighter and as said above lighten a bit, that way you can get the best out of this pic in my humble opinion

i agree with both of the above posts - the monkey is a little bit dark, and the background is a little bit busy, which draws the attention away from the main subject. after you tweak that, i think it'd be a great photo!
