Default A cat's life

Hi guys

I've taken a shot of this cat lieing on the street and now I'm wondering what to do about the asphalt/ background. I've darkened it a little so the cat really pops out.

Now I don't know if I should let it like this or completly darken the background or even let the background be visible.

Here is the shot:

i like the texture of the asphalt and would want to keep rather than make it all black - in fact maybe even a little lighter than you have here...

I would too. The reason for me is the darkness removes the sense of grounding through a loss of a cast shadow and the road loses it's texture which I think might ad context to the images story or point. However, if you like flying kitties in space, (some people do) go darker. It's always good to experiment to see what can be done and how it can change the idea of an image.

I do like the kitty's color and the focus seems to be in the right spot. Give the kitty a scratch for me if you see him again.

Thanks for the help. :-) I tried to change the background into black, but a "space cat" really doesn't look good.^^

What I tried out now is to turn the background black & white or let it as the original. The 3rd one is a lighter version of the picture in the 1st post.

@ karen_s: I'll do it if he'll take a sunbath again. :-)
