Default "MY"...faithful

Hello DPS, hope you're all doing just fine...
A couple of days ago I had my first shoot with a pet, a friend's new dog, it was my first time shooting pets so I wasn't quite sure but some of the shots turned out OK, please take a look on this one...
"MY"... faithful

Question is, do you think the writing on the wall is too burned out, knowing it was plain white paint on location so there's not much that I can do, moreover I tried to bring out more contrast between the writing and the wall but ended up darkening the wall thus losing focus on the dog, and whether it looks sharp enough for you, does the black and white conversion look overdone and what ELSE would you think would make this more artistically pleasing, thanks !

I think it quite nice myself, I especially like the setting. I think the pup stands out nicely against the wall.

The B/W conversion looks good to me. The lettering does look a little hot but it doesn't bother me at all. In fact, I really didn't notice it until I read your comment. About the only thing I might try were this my photo is to straighten the horizontal. I like the composition too but I would be tempted to add a smidge of space to the right of the pup too. Not sure I'd like it better than what you have now because this version does have an interesting sort of tension to it. I don't know, just something to try and see what YOU like best.

Anyway, I think it's a fantastic shot and I'm guessing your friend will LOVE It.

Thanks alot Karen, I hear you about that horizontal line, which I think I should work on yes, about the more space to the right, I think it won't give right balance to the shot, since the M on the left is too much on the edge, I think it looks better this way, but I hear you, it could be just me, and I did go to that tight composition because I been experimenting lately with composition with less negative space, please do have a look on my photostream and feed me back, thanks again !

Yes, I think the tight crop works the way you have it. Only thing is if you print it and frame it, you may want to add a smidge only because a matt or frame will take a little more off. I learned that the hard way.

I'd be happy to take a look at more of your work (especially if it's filled with puppies and doggies ) but I don't see a link?

I really like the black and white, it doesn't seem over done at all. I think it gives the puppy a really interesting, almost halo effect against the wall which I really enjoy. If I was going to play around with this I think I would crop it in tighter, maybe eliminate half of the "M" and bring in the upper portion to make it more abstract...more of a pattern than letters
