Default Tauhou aka Waxeye or Silvereye

Another Aussie import albeit from the 1850s, so more naturalized than most non feather Kiwis, the waxeye or silver eye is the most frequent visitor to city gardens and also one of the most elusive. Being very territorial they spend more time chasing each other than feeding on my cone so catching them means a long wait, hidden in my garden shed(I must say I did enjoy my back screen(Sony a350) while waiting to shoot with camera located on my tripod; no aching arms). I've found later in winter, when their bellies are empty, they are more amicable to each other and in the past I've had 5 or 6 feeding.

Does the bokeh detract from the shot, it seems rather bright. His head's in the wrong place isn't it? And being a dull day I couldn't get a shutter speed higher than 1/160 with my flash engaged. Anything else? Thanks.

Me again FKG, I don't think this is one of your better shots. Yes I think the bright bokeh is a problem, but it's not THE problem imo. Even with without that to me the feeder would still overtake the bird as far as attracting the eye is concerned. If the bird was brightly coloured or white that might be different, but with the bird having similar tones as the background, to my eye it's a shot of the feeder and not the bird.

You mean I hid in the cold and damp garden shed all morning for nothing?! I see exactly what you're saying.............now! I forgot about that aspect; making sure the subject you want in the photo is the main subject. So after shifting the feeder to the garden to make it look more natural I shall now shift it back to the vege garden with a concrete wall behind it and try again soon. Thanks for your advice.
