Came across this large group of butterflies along this creek and tried to get some photos of them before they all flew off. This is by far my favorite, but it was the only close up I got before they all took off. Just trying to mess around with it and get to be interesting.
Any thoughts on it? What does it need, and what does it need less of? Does the vignette work? EXIF Canon 5D MkII Canon 100mm f/2.8 Macro ISO 1600 100mm 1/125 sec f/11 no flash full manual ![]() Larger version - All sizes | IMG_5659 | Flickr - Photo Sharing! |

Very cool! The vignette doesn't bother me at all. This would make a great jigsaw puzzle!

Amazing shot since you didn't have long to take advantage of the opportunity. Three minor points:
- The colors seem a bit oversaturated. - None of the butterflies stands out as the main subject. Of course, this is difficult to achieve with this photo, which is close to being an abstract. - The bottom left-hand corner is somewhat distracting. I would crop slightly to remove that dark spot. Hope that helps. /p |

I love the abstractness...very cool "find"...and being a color girl...I typically like things a bit bumped up on saturation..and since their colors are so phenomenal...have at it IMHO...I would play with a tighter crop and see how just the mass of butterflies does without that lower left corner..it doesn't bother me at all.....but can't hurt to play around with the crop a bit...
