Default Predator vs. Prey

This was my favorite shot that I took today while on a photo walk through some nature trails at a local park. I watched this guy here take down two bees withing 30 seconds. It was rather fascinating. This is the unfortunate aftermath of the events that occurred.

I have never done any types of nature shots before yet I feel I did pretty well for a first timer. I could be entirely wrong as well

Anyways, I would like to know what your thoughts are on this shot. How is the composition? Lighting? Exposure? Oh and also I was wondering if this was a decent depth of field or should I have stuck to a lower aperture? I was going for a shot in the two bees perspectives about to be eaten.

Predator vs. Prey

Exif info:
Camera - Canon EOS REBEL T2i
Exposure - 0.005 sec (1/200)
Aperture - f/1.8
Focal Length - 50 mm
ISO Speed - 100
Exposure Bias - 0 EV
Flash - Off, Did not fire

Thank you all in advance for the advice that I know I will get on this shot.

That's a cool capture of the spider and unfortunate bees. I don't know if this was intentional, but it looks like your large aperture produced some very shallow DOF and the back half of the spider is not in focus. My only other comment is that the bright white blurred flowers in the background are distracting, but I don't know if there was anything you could have done about that.

I meant for it to be in the perspective of the bees, like I said. I wanted it to seem as if a monster was creeping in for the kill. And the bright blurs are not flowers, it's the sun

D'oh! The sun? I guess I was a little bit off?

I think if I were one of those bees, my sight would be fixated on those fangs coming towards me! Those bees are only an inch or two away from the spider, so if you truly wanted to get a shot from their perspective, I think you would have to zoom in that close. Regardless, it's still a very nice capture and that's a cool-looking spider. I've never seen one like that in the Bay Area.

I think the bokeh is a bit too much but I really do like the subject and I love how the web looks over the background. I just can't help but think the big orbs of sunlight could be smaller and/or darker because they are awfully distracting.
