Default ready for take off?

Ok, I grabbed this shot the other day quite literally on the fly. I almost never shoot in auto because I don't really care for the results I get. Anyway... I had the 70-300 lens attached to my Canon 20D. I feel as though it's a bit overexposed but I also tend to be very critical of my own pictures. I'd love to have another set or two of eyes help me out here. Thank you

I agree, but this is one of those shots that you wouldn't want to have missed. Good idea to always reset your camera to auto so as not to "miss the moment" -- and this one definitely should not have been passed by.

Looking at it in PSE, confirming visual, there are blown out highlights. But I did a crop that cuts off the shadow of the legs and feet, and that is by no means essential to this image, in my opinion, and that reduces a lot of the visual impact. I also did a levels adjustment, moving the shadow side up toward the left end of the histogram.

Whether your original or this modified version, I really like the energy in it. Not something one would see every day, to be sure!

Thanks for sharing this!!

ok, so I have no idea on the "technical" parts since I'm so new - but I do love the shot!
