Default On the Outside

(I'm not real sure if this is quite the right place for this photo, but I don't know where else to put it...)
The product of one of those "I need to photograph something NOW" moments.
After cropping, rotating, and raising the contrast this is what I got. Is there anything I could do post-production do make this photo better? Is there anything I could have done then to make it better?

Edited picture (after suggestions)

f/7.1
1/2 sec
ISO- 64
Exposure- 0 step
No flash
Notes: Was taken through glass; spider is in front of second glass, behind first. The spider was aprox. 1/4 of an inch in length

Didi you hand hold? At 1/2 second you really should with no flash. You could have perhaps lowered the aperture to say, 3.5 or 2.8 (depending what lens you had) so that you could get a faster shutter speed - that would have sharpened it up a bit more. Personally, I find it quite flat and dull, but that could be me, when I go for black and white I push the contrast higher than perhaps I should :P

Is there any way I could straighten the top of the photo without messing with the alignment of the bottom?

Gimp has a perspective tool (I'm sure photoshop or ps elements has the same, but I don't know what it is called) which you can use to "stretch" the left side of the image a little until it all lines up. Good luck
