Would love some feedback on what I could have done to make this better, composition, settings, cropping?

Technical;
The exposure looks ok, however the focus appears to be a bit off. I feel the eye, at least should be sharp. Aesthetic. The bird on the top right is a bit of a distraction. The crop is rather tight (chopped off ears & nose) and to me the out of focus railing is a major distraction. Maybe seeing the whole head would be better.

Thanks for your input. I hadn't even noticed the eye wasn't nice and sharp until going back and looking at it. I was trying to go for the horse kinda playing peek a boo but I guess I didn't really pull it off.

I love horse photography and getting "parts" of the horse can be amazing. I have an acquaintance friend-photographer who does it...does a great job. I attached a link of his photo below...he took the photo for the brochure of a local riding academy..
I know what you were trying to do...and you're almost there...I think (and keep this in mind if this is your "habit") if you had taken the same photo withyour camera held vertically...(getting the tips of his ears) this would have been good...(cropping out a bit more of the railing...) Yes, and the bird has to go... For some reason, I very rarely hold my camera horizontally..most of my photos are vertical...don't know why...just a suggestion...Enjoy your journey...so much fun!!Welcome to Facebook - Log In, Sign Up or Learn More
