Default Ducks--well, geese- on the pond

Title's a reference for all you baseball fans out there. This, and 3 others are taking at my local park. Big pond in the middle of it. Overcast day--not much sun, not much wind. Link is here for the rest of the shots.

Geese (3-3)

Nikon D3100
Exposure 0.001 sec (1/1250)
Aperture f/5.6
Focal Length 200 mm
Focal Length 201.6 mm
ISO Speed 400
Exposure Bias 0 EV
Flash Auto, Did not fire

Also, have not touched it at all. This is as is. How much cropping is needed? Too light? Too dark? This was the closest I could get to them, they were pretty far out there.

Welcome to DPS! Did you want to have your photograph critiqued? Help us help you by reading the Forum rules. I love geese but these guys seem overwhelmed by the composition. Can you get closer to them? Cropping in will bring out the lack of focus. Can't help much more without some more information, sorry. Jim

Ah, sorry. Thought I followed all of those, but I guess not. Just looking for overall feedback I suppose. Too light? Too dark?

They're pretty far out in the lake and that's basically as close as I could get. I figured cropping will help a bit.

Sometimes you have to get wet to get the shot! With the subject so far out the light/negative space will give you exaggerated contrast. So the subjects being dark by nature will look darker. Have you cropped into your subjects yet? If so post up a cropped shot for us. Once you do crop I suspect they will be pretty fuzzy. Jim
