Technical:
(1) The areas of the photograph that need to be exposed correctly appear to be under exposed (the birds head).
(2) The same applies to the focus being off around the birds head.

Aesthetic:
(3) The background does nothing to contribute to the subject (the bird)
(4) In line with (1) The lighting doesn't help enhance the subject at all.

Here is an example of a correctly exposed, sharp pic, with a "clean" background of a bird (in the wild)

The funky colors in the background could actually work in an artsy sort of way. I'm not one that insists on "bird on a stick" photos all the time They get boring.

That said, the color is about the only thing this pic has going for it.

It's completely out of focus, and butt shots rarely ever work for birds.

@Jim : i know...butt shots sure arent good. will sure try snappin it on the face next time...and your views on the colourful background is surely welcoming to me....i was almost like such things should never be exposed to cameras....hanks pal
