Default Mallard on the Lake

Took this over the weekend at a lake about 45 minutes from where I live. Except for cropping there has been no PP done. Did I crop too much? Any other critiqueing is welcome. I really like the reflections.

Personally, I would have liked to see more ripples behind the mallard, as it swims away. So yes, I think you cropped too much. In my head, I can picture it clearest with the mallard to the right of the frame and the ripples behind it continuing on the other 2/3 of the frame. But the reflections are awesome and you are very lucky to catch water on a day like that! Your colors ended up looking fabulous.

Thanks for your comments Nicole. So you think the duck should be swimming out of the frame not into it. I can do that but will wait to see what other critiques I have.

Yep, that's what I meant. Hopefully you'll get some more critique soon.

The reflection is intregining, I really appriciate the smothnes of the water also. I would like to see what a crop of him swimming out of the frame looked like. But I think keeping some of the smoothness around him shows off that reflection well.

Here is a crop of him swimming out of the frame. I hope I didn't crop it to close to the right edge.

I think it looks pretty good like that. But I am one of those who favors a subject out of center frame.
