Well that one doggone cute model! I like the shot espesially the color of her fur with the tongue out. I have never seen a yorkie sit still.
This is a great start with a new lens. I just returned home from a trip out with my new 70-200 f2.8 L I'm not sure I am in love with it either but i bet by next week I will be happy, it is just a learning curve. The only thin I would change is maybe DOF because so much of her is in focus except for her rearend. |

Colour looks quite nice to me, it's hard to comment about sharpness without a link to the full photo. Perhaps try some macro shots - that's where macro lenses excel in regards to sharpness.
Also, a combination of noise and the slower shutter speed may contribute to the perceived lack of sharpness. |
