Default Yorkie model

I just got a new Nikkor 85mm f/3.5 lens. My dog was my only model available. What do you think of the sharpness and color of this photo? I used tripod and flash (sb600)
Nikon D90
1/60sec
1600/ISO
f/3.5
Not sure I'm liking this new lens.

Well that one doggone cute model! I like the shot espesially the color of her fur with the tongue out. I have never seen a yorkie sit still.
This is a great start with a new lens. I just returned home from a trip out with my new 70-200 f2.8 L I'm not sure I am in love with it either but i bet by next week I will be happy, it is just a learning curve.
The only thin I would change is maybe DOF because so much of her is in focus except for her rearend.

Colour looks quite nice to me, it's hard to comment about sharpness without a link to the full photo. Perhaps try some macro shots - that's where macro lenses excel in regards to sharpness.

Also, a combination of noise and the slower shutter speed may contribute to the perceived lack of sharpness.

Thanks. I said "treat" at the last second to get the head tilt. The tongue always seems to be out. I'm going to look for more models to give this lens another try. Thinking about exchanging it for the nonmicro version.
