Default Pirate gets woken up

Here's a picture I took of my cat after a nap. I haven't taken many decent close up shots so any advice would be helpful. I tried to make sure the eyes were in focus but what are other things I could be working on to make these close ups better? I also have a similar set of pictures of my dog but I noticed in both of them you can see reflections in their eyes (windows, me, the camera - pretty funny actually) which takes away from being able to see the details of their eyes. It's like I need it to be light in the room to get the details but dark in the room to keep there from being a eye reflection.

"Here's a picture I took of my cat after a nap" -- your nap, or the cat's?!

I've been thinking about this but I'm not sure the white subject on a white background works. Whilst that isn't ideal, what it does do is throw the viewer's attention onto to one area that isn't white, ie the eyes, and in general terms it's always a good idea to focus on the eyes... I'd be keen to hear what others think about this!

An interesting shot, therefore; thanks for sharing.

I'm a big fan of white on white.

Overall, the exposure is a little dark for me and I'd lighten it slightly. I'd lighten the eyes even more.

I like the composition and think the Depth of Field is just right.
