Default Attempting to shoot a Wolf

Hi Guys!

I am a newbie to wildlife photography and I am looking for some feedback on my latest adventure.

Here is a photo I took at the UK Wolf Conservation Trust this week. What are your thoughts and how could I improve the shot?

A Day with the Wolves at The UK Wolf Conservation Trust

Cheers!

Craig

What's the exif? Seems a bit noisy so I'm going to assume a higher ISO due to dusk?

I did a bit of an edit: Copied the background to darken/soften it for more separation. Adjusted Brightness/contrast for foreground/wolf. Lightened eyes added highlight to lt eye.

BTW, I'll take it down if you wish...

I'm not quite as anti-noise as I used to be, and I don't think it detracts at all from the overall effect of the shot. Compositionally, maybe some MINOR cropping, but I like that the head is close to the center of the frame, so I wouldn't crop too much from the top. Perhaps cropping the sides to center him a bit, but I like the space above. If you reduce noise in an editing program, I would do so only to the background, because you'll lose detail on the wolf otherwise. Great saturation!

Thanks for the feedback guys

I really like your edit SK66. It makes the wolf stand out more and draws me more towards the eyes.

Unfortunatly the light wasen't very good on the day so I had to bump up the ISO

Lessons have been learned though

The only thing I would do is play with different crops and lighten the eyes to bring them out.

Excellent shot.
