Default First Critique... Horse in Snowstorm

Hi everyone,

I am really getting into the photography hobby and am learning as I go. I have plans to take a few classes this summer in photography but haven't yet. Would love a critique on this photo. It's one of my favorites to date and would like to know what you all think/have suggestions for/what I can do differently

Thanks!

I think it's lacking a little contrast. If you work a little in photoshop, take your black eyedropper tool in levels and click it on a black point in the image. I did it in the horses nostril...you'll be amazed as to how it makes your image pop. Nice shot BTW.

Agreed, it is going to wind up being a very good image.

I'd take it a step further and choose selective color -> blacks and increase blacks in the blacks.

I'm not sure how to do that, I have photoshop premier elements. Would that be done as a layer or more contrasting?

I'm not sure about Elements, but if it has it, you find it under

Image
-> Adjustments
-->Selective Color
