Default Monkey Portrait

Hi,

I'd like to know if the centred composition works for this shot, I tried placing the monkey on the line of thirds but didn't like it as much. What do you think?

Also, is it distracting that it's quite monochrome?

Portrait of a Monkey

EXIF:
Exposure 0.004 sec (1/250)
Aperture f/7.1
Focal Length 200 mm
ISO Speed 100
Exposure Bias 0 EV
Flash No Flash

Thanks,
M

I quite like the composition of this, the monkey is looking straight at the camera so a little hard to place it anywhere else but centre. There is probably not a lot you can do about the monochrome effect - that is the monkey and its environment although the monkey does tend to blend with the background a bit. Have you made any adjustments to levels or contrast? Might just help it to stand out a little.

I personally would have used a tighter crop since you have it centered. I think it would help remove some of the distracting background and fill the frame.

Thanks for the feedback.

I have adjusted levels and contrast but this was the best I could manage without clipping.

I don't know why I didn't go for a tighter crop :P
This is why it's great to share and get others opinions

Thanks!

He got such an interesting face. I wonder if you cropped down to his face what effect that would have on viewers.
