Default Little Yellow Warbler

From Drop Box

I think this is a warbler, but feel free to correct me if you know.

I'd really appreciate some feed back here. I am just starting into the world of photography, so I don't have a lot experience. I know a lot about camera-tech jargon with things like aperture, ISO, DOF, and things like that, but not a whole lot about composition or design. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Camera - Canon SX130
ISO - 80
Focal length - Non interchangeable lens camera so doesn't really translate.
Aperture - f/5.6
Shutter Speed -1/320 second

First this crop doesn't work for me, there is this huge black pile of something that constatly drawns my eye ...that shouldn't be the case since the object is the bird and even by doing such a good job with bluring the background you still need to do something with it maybe just croping it off from the original if possible
About composition I would suggest you using the Rule of Thirds...maybe you should try cropping the picture that way or something
Also you have just too much space in the upper part wich is empty and it bothers me a lot
I have to say I am not a pro, but this is just my general opinion

I agree with Boun, there is too much space at the top. Try cropping down from the to and in from the right a bit. Also try changing the aspect ratio to go from a square picture to a rectangle.

The only thing thats bothering me now is that little green object near the lens. On one hand it adds to the picture, but on the other it is quite distracting to me.
Dont make any changes based on me though, im no expert ;]
Other than that I adore this picture. beautiful.

The crop looks better, but the big black blob on the right is still there. Can you clone it out? I agree with Dave and Boun... The rule of thirds would have made this image much better.

Second crop in my opinion much better, but I would suggest you if you want ofcourse to upload the original, maybe someone more experienced than you and me both could show you how to crop it the right way

I'm not a pro either but to me, whilst the second crop is better, there's still too much foreground. If you got rid of the bottom half of the picture and left it as a long, thin, mail-box shaped slit of a picture I think it would work even better.

However all the chat about the crop is only secondary to what I really what to say, which is that this is a great picture. It's beautifully sharp and the yellow and green stand out well against the background. Nice, and thanks so much for sharing.

Not sure if anybody mentioned it, but this is a Pine Warbler...among the hardiest of warblers and found even in the winter across the southeast (and a few sparingly north of that).
