Looking for advice on exposure and if the blur in the front of the cat is distracting. She is at a zoo and I was shooting in between a gap of the glass and wood. |

I don't think the lack of focus in the lower right is that distracting. You have good focus on the great majority of the lioness. To me, the image has a sort of sureal quality, though, in that the background, which I assume was constructed in post processing, gives the image the feeling of a studio portrait, maybe like a good quality Walmart pet photo; and yet that is so contrary to the nature of the subject, if you can see what I'm saying. To me, this an attractive image technically, one that would be a nice print to hang on the wall as decoration. In that capacity, the muted colors would be an asset in many interior decoration schemes. But I'd really like to know more about how it was constructed to look like it does to me; as a pet portrait.

I believe I adjusted the exposure a little when i converted it to a Jpeg from raw. But the back ground is what she was infront of but if I remember correctly it is a man made rock substance she was sitting on. I just thought she was so stricking sitting there when I pulled these photos up on my computer. I had givin some thought to having this one put on a small convas for my office. I just didn't want to crop any more in front of her than I had to.
I really appriciate you taking a look at it. i am so new to this photography that I just can't get enough input. I have learned bounds of information from ready and absorbing the information here. Again thank you! |
