Ducks

Camera Nikon D90
Exposure 0.033 sec (1/30)
Aperture f/5.6
Focal Length 200 mm
ISO Speed 100
Exposure Bias -8/3 EV

Does this pop enough? Darkened the image to deepen colours and reflection..what do you think of the result. any other feedback is welcome. Thanks in advance.

Ya, baby!!!! YA!!! It does pop enough!!!!

This is quacking awesome! I love everything about it. I love the contrast between the curves of the fowl and the straight lines of the logs which have their own abstract beauty in and of themselves, I love the fact they're a pair of ducks rather than only one, I love the dynamic range, I love the way the color draws attention to the subjects, I love the sharpness and the rule of thirds in spades, the ducks looking to the left (which adds an element of drama or at least an unanswered question), and after all of that there is the incredible water and reflection... I mean... AWESOME! (But that is just a word and doesn't do this image justice; its beauty is beyond words, IMHO.)

Thank you so much for sharing it! (Can you share the story behind it as well?)

When I see an image of this quality, I'm always reminded of a line from a poem by Alexander Pope in his essay on criticism; "Life, force, and beauty must to all impart; At once the source, and end, and test of art." To my eye, this image clearly meets that criterion. This is a gem; among a handful of the most beautiful images I've seen. I'm not exaggerating. Congratulations!

Thanks chicagojohn for your kind words

The story is nothing great. Its just that there was a pigeon (this one..Wood Pigeon | Flickr - Photo Sharing!) on a branch on camera left and both the ducks were taring intently. This was late evening and very still water, so provided decent light and reflection.

Once agan, thanks for your detailed feedback and appreciation.

Cheers
