Default Bird in water

Hello,
This snap i took recently when in went for a photo shoot near a lake. Please try to give your feed back on any kind of improvement...right from composition,exposure and color...

Here is the snap....

The first thing that stands out to me is that the bird is in an awkward pose and almost looks distressed. Or like it fell.
