Not sure what to do with this photo - I feel as though it has lots of potential but not sure what to do. Absolute beginner - know the basics of my camera but when it comes to post processing - No clue whatsoever!

All help is very much appreciated!
All the Exif Data is on Flickr aswell!

I have never posted on here so - thanks for having me

It's lovely!

If it were mine I think I'd be inclined to lose the right hand side of the photo completely. The fence post is distracting and competing with the main subject. I'd also crop out just a tiny bit of the left side, to lose the bit of visible post there.

I looked at your flickr stream and I have to say that the 'Hello Horse' is fantastic! A bit of colour correction and sharpening and it would be superb.

Just downloading lightroom 3 Trial now so will give that a shot. Thank you so much for the feedback.
I kept the Post and the Gap next to the horse there because there is something about the size of the photo and were the horse sits that I like. But once you said cropping and the post I could see exactly what you mean. Should I keep as much of the space between the horse and the post as possible after the crop?

I really like the space beside the horse too. I think it provides a sense of the horse having vast fields to run in and the yellow flowers give it a sunnier look. I think this would be lost if you crop it too much, even a square crop through the post would create a greater sense that the horse is enclosed in the frame. I've no idea how, I'm new to post-production stuff too, but maybe you can soften the post and sharpen the horse a little. This will just give the horse a bit more pop than the post and it'll be less distracting, hopefully. I love the photo though, the horse has a real pop and presence already.

Also, the background hills look a little hazy to me, maybe freshen/warm up the colours slightly in that area?

As I say, I've no idea about actual techniques, just my imagination adjusting it.

I really like this picture as well. I enjoy the space off the right but I could also appreciate it cropped out. What grabbed me with this shot was the horse's emotion. The color of the image is great but I would also like to see it in black and white, that with the horse's attitude could be pretty cool.
