Default Rhino in the mud

Hi

Rhino1

I took this at high noon (or thereabouts), worst time of the day of course but best time for these guys to be hot and in the mud.

The shadows are distracting me but I am loathe to do too much pp on this. Should I have lightened up the shadow area or leave as is.

Also the grass - is the green too rich, and should I desaturate slightly?
Any other critique that you could share with me would also be helpful.

Thanks for your input!

Hi to you too
Well I agree that it is the worst time of day to take pictures, but maybe you should follow the sunny 16 rule, you can check it on wiki, here's the link Sunny 16 rule - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
maybe you would get some better results with this
I like this photo but when I first saw it I felt like I would like to see a whole rhino or tight crop of his head just to make it more interesting, but as I'm looking at it more and more I am loosing that feeling, so maybe someone more experienced could tell you more about composition
Green is not too rich, but there is some reflection on it, it is a bit highlighted and the back of the rhino as well which draws my atention to those areas instead of his face
still you did a good job, I envy you for having the opportunity to shoot this lovely animal
