Default my opinions

I'm not a pro but I'll try to make a few suggestion on what would make me like this even more.
I think there is a lot of useless space. I think if you crop the image so the eyes of the dog are on one of the golden means. or rules of 3rd (get confused with all the unspoken rules)
so basically a crop and it would be great! i would keep it in landscape and crop everything above the dogs head and to the right of dog. that way you get a bit of the shadow to help draw you to the hand and up to the eyes!

I agree with pril79 about cropping to get rid of the empty space. I'm also not much of a fan of selective colouring. In this case especially I think it makes the eyes look unnatural. In my opinion it would look better in full colour, letting the eyes speak for them self.

I really like the perspective of this image. Normally I would say that things would look better if you were on the same level as the dog, but in this case I think the looking down thing works.

Cute dog, by the way!
