Default Marlowe the Pitbull Mix

Hi..been relatively inactive on this site, but now that I think I'm getting a handle on the "science" of photography, Im looking for some constructive input. I attended an After Dark photo conference in New Orleans and was interested in photos/portraits using available light. Marlowe was a great subject this particular a.m. Post processing so far was limited to levels, but I will also remove scratches on the chair at some point..and perhaps the electric fence collar (some of you may disagree with that, but it helps save his life)...I should have taken that off for the photo, but was afraid I'd disturb his pose.
Critiques about composition and exposure and any other input would be welcome..please be gentle though..I'm just a babe with this camera stuff Thanks so much for looking!!!

I like it. The wistful gaze outside is really great. Composition-wise, it's good, though I might have left even a little more space on the right to emphasize the idea that there's something really cool happening right off-frame. I'm not sure if you're better off catching whatever he's looking at in the window, or leaving it to the imagination. I'd also play with the same shot from a lower point of view -- getting down on the dog's level to follow that line of sight out the window.
