Default First cat shots

Hi, This is my first go at some shots of the cat using a shallow depth of feild. I have had my dslr for about 6 weeks or so and pretty much jumped right into full manual mode as I don't want to get stuck with the camera doing all the thinking.

This took quite a while to take this as she kept moving, and I was also on the bed effecting movement too.

Camera = sony A550 with standard 18-55mm kit lens
f stop = f/5.6
exposure = 1/15 second
ISO = 3200

I now realise the iso is very high in the shot, and didnt even know at the time, having said that I'm quite happy that the noise isn't to bad considering.

I think it is lovely! I like the angle, with the cat above and the color!

I am an amateur so please take my comments with a pinch of salt......

Firslt I really like the composition and the colours and I actually quite like the noise as it's only really in the background and I feel this adds texture.

There's only one thing that I would comment on and that's the fleece the cat is sitting on. It's a little bit distracting as it's in focus on the left and then the bulk is out of focus. But as I said I'm an amateur so what do I know :-)

lol I like your comments fannyanna, I need to learn as much as I can, what works for one person might not for another but I still like to take it all in.

This is definitely on the yellow side - and your WB may have been a little off - but I don't think it really takes away from the photo.

This is wonderful for 6 weeks into using a DSLR!

Yea the lighting itself was kinda yellow as the bedside lamp (the only light source) behind me has a yellow shade around it. I have started to take shots with different settings on the white balance now and I'm also shooting in RAW now too.

Thanks to everyone for the comments and advice.
