Hello everyone!
I took this shot during my vacation and would like some expert critique on shooting animals. This was one of my first tries at capturing birds with my new camera. I also tried out on a few monkeys that were around but that will be another tread. I think I did pretty well here in terms of composition, specially because of the background color, but I would like to hear some advice from the experts, if you could please give any feedback I would really appreciate it. Thank you very much ![]() Exif: Camera Canon EOS Digital Rebel XS Exposure 0.004 sec (1/250) Aperture f/5.6 Focal Length 250 mm ISO Speed 800 Exposure Bias 0 EV

I'm no expert, but i think this image would have been best served by keeping the grass in the foreground in the bottom 1/3 of the image, instead of splitting the image in half with it. It's the least interesting part of the image and it takes up nearly half of it. Otherwise, i think the image is well composed, and I agree the color in the background really makes the image pop. Great job focusing as well!

I'd say the colors in the foreground, the colors in the background and your use of DOF really bring out the bird's colors. I'm glad you did not put the bird right in the middle of the frame like I have seen on many other animal shots.
