Hi,
First time posting in wildlife and first time trying to do birding coz trying out a new 70-300 and lacking a proper subject...Bird is pretty small size and the distance is around 4-5 meters... still can't fill the frame, cropped quite a bit... anyway, critique on comp, how to get closer to bird, getting sharper image and can anyone identify the name of this bird? ![]() Bird 01 by TY_Beginner, on Flickr iso 800 f 8 shutter 1/80 <== Might be the big problem afterall... focal length: 300 |

I think the biggest issue here is trying to capture a small dark subject against a very bright background. The background is blown out yet the bird is underexposed. Adding more light on the bird or choosing a better background are the solutions.
