Default Dogs at Play

I would appreciate your comments on this shot.

I think I'm ok with the action, DoF and focus.

My question is, is it cropped too tight? Does it need more room for the dogs to run? Or is it ok that they appear to be jumping out of the image...

Hi mike im only a novice but i think you have done a great job with this image by cropping it, being a black and white image its clear as to what your subject matter is and as far as the effect of the dogs almost jumping out of the image, "brilliant" it add life and feeling to the image. great job. I really, really like this! My only complaint is that the cropping does seem very cramped. So to answer your question, yes - it is cropped too tight.

I like it. The dog's legs look like they are showing motion, which made for a great shot.

Hi Mike

Having just posted a strong critic on what is becoming a website with far too many "snapshots" it is wonderful to see such a great shot of two dogs at play. This has to be a shot that was thought out and executed superbly. love the BW conversion and the fact that you have kept a lovely tonal range and great composition. Incidentally, I do not think it is cropped too tightly. There is room for movement to the right of the dogs. Very well done and thanks for sharing

I like it, but I would like to see the dogs on the right in a more typcial 4x3 crop. I am assuming you have more room to do this, otherwise I guess you would not have asked.

Thank you all very much for your comments. Although there is room in the original image for a more traditional rectangular crop, the more I examine this image along with your comments, the more I like the drama presented with the square crop. So she stands as is...

Thanks again for your honest critique... much appreciated!
Mike
