Default Wakodahatchee Wetlands - Pic 1

Hello Forum,
I would appreciate your feedback with this photo. Please tell me what you think and how you would improve it.

Sorry. i don't have the EXIF info available right now. However i did take it with a Canon 7D in raw format. I used lightroom to enhance exposure and colors.

Looking forward to reading your comments. Thank you!

EXIF Data:
camera: Canon EOS 7D
exposure: 1/400 at f / 5.0
focal length: 220mm
ISO: 500
flash did not fire
Lens: EF70-300mm f/4.5

I am looking for comments regarding the post production work on the image. Was it too much? too little? what do you like most or least about it? Etc. Thanks again!

Thanks for adding EXIF and a specific question! I'm sure you'll get more response now.
I like the PP. The colors really pop. I would like to see a tighter crop (mainly to get rid of some of the space at the bottom which I feel is distracting. Beautiful shot, though!

The fence top produces two converging lines that meet behind the bird and then hangs a left. My one wish is that you would have lowered your camera until the two lines converge into the bird. Using lines in this way have the powerful effect of leading our eyes exactly where you want them. I know, you can't always remember these things in the moment, but next time, if you get the chance, give it a try.

Lightwriter,
Thanks very much for the input. I think the colors really give it a greater sense of depth. I liked the out of focus sensation at the bottom because it, too, gives it a really nice 2-dimensional feeling. However, i do see your point about it being somewhat distracting. Thanks for your feedback!

LeeR,
Thank you, also, for the comments. I see what you mean about the lines converging at the top. I will definitively keep that thought in mind when faced with a similar situation.

i feel like when i look it it my eyes are stuck on the bird's legs more than anything else. they're long and very bright, and along the bottom third of the photo.. i'm a newbie so i almost never comment on other people's stuff but maybe cropping the bottom part of the fence out will move the focus up to the bird itself. :
