Hi, this is my first post on the forums although I've been hovering for a while. I have a basic camera, but I figure I should learn how to take photos first and then get a better camera to reward myself.
I took this photo of a stray that was sleeping on a bed in the house last year in May. The kitten is sitting in the sunshine filtered through yellow windows. This photo has not been edited (I'm not too familiar with photo editors). Feel free to make suggestions. Camera: Canon PowerShot A460 What I set: I slightly underexposed (-1) to get rid of the extra glare and did not zoom or crop. I would appreciate any comments, criticism or tips on how to take better pet shots in future. Did I overdo the yellow in this shot? Are the dirty ears a problem or do they add character? Does the vertical line detract from the image?

Many thanks, I didn't think about that. I'll start experimenting with PhotoShop to see what I can do about it.

In addition to BK553's suggestions, I would lighten the face a bit.
