Default Wildlife Looking Back At You

Hi, This is my first post. Any and all imput is welcome. I came across this elk on my way home one day along side the road. Just wondering if I could get some feedback on the composition, exposure, and focus. Your time is much appreciated. Thank you.

Hi chumanie, welcome to DPS. This is a really nice shot for your first post. A beautiful elk as well.

Your exposure looked really good. You can tell when an image is exposed properly when the histogram is almost touching the right side. This will work for most images.

I like your composition, but would prefer to have a slightly tighter crop, to show off the elk a little more.

The focus should be on the eye, and it was. The eye looked good and sharp to me.

The only thing this image lacks is editing. A whitebalance adjustment, levels adjustment, and some sharpening will help alot. I did an edit for you, and i also did a noise reduction (you shot it at iso 500 so it will show a little noise in the background and shadow areas)

Nice job, keep up the good work.

Thanks PrimeTime, I really appreciate the input. I'm just learning to use Adobe Photoshop, sometimes confusing. I'll keep working on it. Thanks again.
