Well this is my first post as a new member, so I thought I'd pick my favorite photo to see what you guys think of it. I took it awhile back, not knowing anything about photography (three years later I still don't!), but I love it anyway and I'm not sure why... I've never been able to recreate it! I remember there was very little light but I turned the flash off and I used the kitchen table to stabilize the camera. I've had this expensive Nikon for three years and I'm just now learning how to use it... I'm so sick of shooting on auto and hoping for the best! Anyway maybe some of you can tell me where I went right (or wrong) here!

Camera: Nikon D40X
Lens: 18.0 - 200.0 mm
Exposure Mode: Auto
Focal Length: 170 mm
Aperture: f/5.6
Flash: Did not fire, compulsory mode
ISO Speed: 1600

Beautiful cat! I love cats and photograph mine often. This is a nice shot but I have a few recomendations. 1. It could use a bit of sharpening. 2. Have you tried this in a square crop? I think that would give it even more impact. 3. Inhance the color of her (I'm guessing because of the title) eyes to make them stand out from her fur.

Oh! And welcome to DPS
