Default I can't put my hare on it

Why do I feel something is lacking? I think I like the DOF but... is the focus off? What do you see?

I think the lighting is flat. There's little contrast between bright and dark which keeps this from having that pop that really grabs your attention. Granted, he's not going to sit idly by while you setup a radio triggered strobe, so there's not much you can do about it, other than look for similar shots in the future with more contrast.

Would I be cheating if I shared a different photo on the reply? I think I have one in the set that shows more of what you are describing, plus it's cute.

I like the DoF too. The background looks really amazing.

Though, I agree with IABoomer that the rabbit, the subject, isn't really striking. I think you can contrast it using photoshop.

And, I think you should crop it so that the rabbit falls into the rule of thirds, like

Sweet thank you, I love it when I get looks at my photostream. To capture these photos I spent 2 hours on my belly on the desert ground. It was prickly and sweaty but still fun some how.

To get the rabbit in thrids should I just crop a bit off the bottom?

Looking at your Flickr, I see the others do have more contrast in the lighting. They're all good shots of the subjects. Nicely done from one bunny-lover to another.

No, crop the left side (not that I think it's necessary). A little PP would help this image a lot.

I think the comp is fine as it is, and with a little TLC this images will be a keeper! Well done.

Thank you for your kind words Sk66 and Kate,

I am a budget photographer for the time being. The most I can do for PP is Picasa.

I was able to pick up on a killer deal on my used D40x but the good software is going to have to wait.
