Focus was on the Eye should I have focused on the center of the nose?

I personally love the photo. The nose looks to be in focus anyway. Its pretty sharp. I like your composition. The only thing I find could be wrong in the photo is the ear at the top left corner is extremely bright drawing attention away from the giraffes face. Other then that, Great photo !! Keep it up!

I noticed the highlight on the ear but left it there to give the viewer a sense of the conditions I was shooting in. The Giraffe had wandered into the shade long enough for me to setup and take the shot.

Nice capture! I didn't even notice the highlight on the left ear, until I read the other posters message. I love the DOF going down the neck!
