Default Hello, I'm Mr. Ed

Composition/subject seem good and this seems to have potential for a decent pic, but it seems "dull" to me. Thoughts?

Hi! In my opinion you could enhance the photograph by turning it into black and white and bumping up the contrast. I think this will make your photo stand out more.

I think a little play with curves will greatly enhance this photograph. Nice capture.

It's not perfect and I was using GIMP since I am at work, I'm not the most proficient at GIMP. I use Lightroom and/or CS4 at home. I duplicated the layer and made it a multiply layer, this helps to make the color richer. I made another layer that I did curves adjustment on.

Man, this brings back so many memories. I used to love that show (I guess I am giving away my age by admitting that) but the crossbuck door looks just like the one in Wilbur Post's office.
As for the image, I think lputman's solution is elegantly simple. I used a different method (read, more complicated) but my results weren't significantly better.

Very cool...first time I played with curves. Not nearly as improved as your version, but certainly better. I'm clear on the layers, but sure I will get that shortly.

Learned a good deal on this site today...
