Does the birds wing span lining up so close with the edge of the water distract you? Does it make the image worse?

looking at the title i was expecting the front view of the seagull...
wt distracts me is the position of the bird...its more to the right of the frame...that didnt really make the bird stand out...although the shadow's looking gud!!
n for the distraction by water cld ve been improved thru some post prod i guess...probably u cldve made everything else bt the bird in greyscale...probably that cld ve helped...

Yes it does distract a little, as the left wing almost seems to blend in with the water. However, i still think this works and its a great shot.

I must say that shadow is impressive =)

Can you crop it so the bird is walking into the frame instead of out of it?

I don't think the wings/water line is the problem (actually, I sort of like the parallel lines). I think it's the position of the gull that detracts from the overall effect. If you can move the bird so that it is in the lower left corner heading to the upper right, I think it will make for a better picture.
