Default Look Up Frog

Hi,
I would like to request critique on composition on this photo. I also appreciate comments about its color, exposure, focus, DoF. PP using canon software and Picnic.

I had this shot in the morning. I remember the focal length was 200mm. The other exif data are as follows:

Camera Model Name Canon EOS 450D
Shooting Date/Time 5/27/2010 8:12:16 AM
Tv (Shutter Speed) 1/25
Av (Aperture Value) 8.0
ISO Speed 800
Image Size 3320x2213
Flash Off
Color Space sRGB

Thanks

Rick

Cute capture!

You've done a great job, considering your subject - which, I know is not always the easiest to photograph!

The exposure looks good to me. Bright, but not blown-out.

Aperture and DOF look nice, with his face perfectly in focus but nothing else.

As far as colors, I don't know what else you could do instead of something quick and easy like a curves adjustment. Since he is a toad, he isn't colorful, and neither is the area he's sitting on. So, the photo lacks color, but I think that is okay!

Nice :-)

Thank you very much, Laurenbiz.

very nice shot. color and exposure are fine. only i'd have liked a deeper DoF as the body looks quite interesting but is blurred out. or maybe if you'd clicked him from the side and at a lower angle it might have come out even better (just my thoughts...dunno if that was possible to do).

I will try an f/11 next time. I dont have a macro lens but I will see what I can do. Thanks for the feedback.

The only thing I find quite distracting is the bright area at the top and the yellow-green leaves at the top left. They draw the eye away from your subject. Selectively desaturating the leaves and burning the bright spot would improve the composition, imho.

Thanks. I will see what I can do with PS CS4.
