Just starting out and any feedback would be really helpful.

Looks ok for starters...but to bad u diden't had more lighting.

I like the lighting. It's very subdued, giving a low-key effect, and yet there is enough light to show the yellow on the wing and just a tinge of color on the flower blooms.

I also like the slats/boards in the background; they lead the viewer's eye to the important part of the photo.

The one big leaf over the butterfly is sort of distracting, though. I wonder if you could crop the photo differently, or tone it down/blur it in post production to lessen its influence.

thanks for the comments. should i have increased my f # when taking the picture to eliminate that blurry leaf? is there something i could have done (i was not able to manipulate the lighting of the scen) with my camera to increase the lighting- like raise my iso i think? I use Picasa as my photo editing thing- any suggestions on other programs would be great. Loving this site! =)
