Hi folks!

It's a shot of my favourite, and hardest to work with, model Jack Russell named Kayah.
I'd love to to know what do you think about the composition and colours and the dog herself . If you see some major faults in the picture please do tell me. Thanks.

Cute dog. The shot is good but could improve by having the empty space in front of the dog as if she were running into the frame instead of running out of it.

I am a big fan of pet shots. This one is cool, but if you want a critique here are my thoughts on it. There is not a lot going on composition wise. It's pretty flat over all. I would say either crop in closer or shoot it again and get in tighter. Focus on the eyes. Because there is not much in the background I would say open up you aperture to help soften it up. You did a good job of getting down low on the dogs level, that's always a plus I find when shooing pets. As for the lighting, it looks like it was shot with the sun pretty much overhead, I would say try earlier or later in the day when the light is softer. I hope that helps some, just keep shooting and looking at other good pet shots and you should get some really nice stuff.

I actually like the composition as is in terms of space. The dog is facing to the right, so the extra space on the right is as it should be. Now, if the dog were running instead of standing, I'd say space to the left even with a look back over the shoulder, but this is a static photo.

The whites are a bit over exposed and lacking in detail in spots.

I'm not a fan of the wall in the background.

I think this is very overexposed. When I've done some pet photos outside with such bright sunlight, I've been able to get great photos even with an exposure of 1/1200.

Everything just seems so beyond bright here for my tastes! Cute doggy, though! :-)
