Default A blue dragon-fly

A hard try within the woods of EagleEye resorts near Chikmagalur. I shot this near a small waterbody and a dirty and dry land. This looks like a blue colored dragon fly (please check that there is no post processiong done with color - only a little crop and +5 increased contrast). I found on the net and could relate it to the "Blue Dasher" but that is found in America.

Anywayz ... All comments are welcome.
Specially, I am also keen on knowing how to learn the behavior of insects and how to aproach them.. And take pictures without disturbing them. Mostly the insects are shy and are scrared to cameras So getting on a macro mode is real tough. In tele/normal mode, I find hard to locate them using view finder and also it is more prone to sensor blur (as the PnS is not sharp and large lens expansion)

Hi Arnab!

This blue dragonfly is certainly an amazing subject to photograph. I rarely see any dragonfly like this before, and it's so pretty! This shot really has a lot of potential.

I like how you shot the amazing details of this marvelous creature. The blue dragonfly and the brown background contrast really well.

But I think you should have used a lower DoF (depth of field) so that the background would be blurred more and not distract the viewer from the dragonfly. The watermark placed on the wing is a little distracting; I think it should be put near the bottom-right.

By the way, I have attached my crop of this shot here (I've also blurred the background a bit). I hope you like it!

Thanks. Would keep it in mind. However, to avoid risk I seldom go to low DOF. It is interesting how you could manage the selective blurring. Which tools you use ?

Well, I used photoshop. LOL! Btw, my camera doesn't let me set the DoF, so next time I buy a camera I'm gonna buy one that lets you set it
