Yeah, I tried a couple years back, with better pics. I had a lot of people tell me to enter this one though, so I thought I would ask the experts!

cool, do you have anything specific you wanted to ask or need help with? (hint, asking something specific is outlined int he guidelines) it just helps us to know what direction you are trying to go in and what we should be focusing on

We want everyone to have fun and learn here at DPS. In order to insure that, there are some rules you need to follow when posting in the Critique sections:

Only ONE new critique request per day(24 hour period) for ENTIRE critique section. Choose your image carefully.
Ok, I did this. Haven't asked for help in months

Quote:
Please post only ONE image in the thread. If you need to show more, link it to your set. If you post more than one, the other will be deleted at the moderators discretion.
Yep, did that, only one pic.

Quote:
Please keep images to 740px on the longest side. Mods reserve the right to resize oversize images or delete them until resized. This is easy to put up the proper size if you use flickr. If you feel it is necessary for us to see a larger size, link to it.
We strongly encourage the use of a photosharing site such as flickr, photobucket, zoomr, etc.
Done and done.

Quote:
Please include the following information, if possible, with your image: EXIF info, type of camera, specific questions (What do you think? is not a specific question). A meaningful title, NOT "Critique Please", will also get your post noticed in a crowded section.
Only post if you are willing to be critiqued - this isn't a place for showing off, but a place for people to suggest how you can improve. If you don't think you need to improve then this might not be the section of our forums for you.
Yep, got EXIF. I did ask if I should enter it, and have in my siggy that I am always open to critiques. I do realize that it is just a picture. I got a lot of comments on another web site, but would like info from the experts. I do not know what to ask, because, well, I an not a pro, or semi pro.

What do you like or dont like about your photo? Would you like help with composition, lighting, placement, post processing, camera settings or anything like that?

You see, you are asking other to put a lot of thought and effort into helping you along your way, so in return they would like for you to do the same.

I'll help you a bit. Your photo is undeniably cute but there are a couple of things you need to watch out for. The objects int he background are a distraction. The dog itself is a bit on the soft side, this can be helped in part by using the unsharp mask adjustment.

The flash made the cup way brighter than anything else which could be a problem, especially the parts that are totally blown out and have lost all detail.

What was the lighting like when you took the photo? Did you really need a flash? (I hardly ever use a flash unless its outdoors on a sunny day and need a fill flash) Was it dark as I noticed your iso was set rather high at 400

I don't know what kind of contest you are looking to enter it in...but I am a big fan of both dobermans and Blizzards, so it gives me warm fuzzies.
