I find the composition a little awkward. I think this would have worked better in a "landscape" orientation.

I have to agree with SK66 on the composition. I think it would have been a stronger shot from a low or level perspective as well.
Also, be careful about cutting off body parts. That missing ear tip and paw are distracting from the adorable kittyface! It seems a bit washed out/overexposed. Is this a black and white shot? If so, your goal should be to have a good contrast of black blacks and white whites. I feel like being able to see some more of the texture of the carpeting would make it slightly more interesting as well. Hope that helps! Edit: Whoops! I noticed there's a bit of pink on the ear, so it's obviously in color Perhaps this would be better suited to black and white?

Thanks for everyone's critiques! Here is another one from my kitty's "photoshoot" that I shot in landscape and maybe is a bit more traditional. Unfortunately, the ear is still cropped... Thoughts? Thanks!

Not an expert by an means but I prefer your first picture. For me the 2nd one doesn't work as well as the picture is taken looking down on the cute kittie. With the first picture it doesn't really look like that because of the angle.

Well,it seems i have a similar taste with sk66.. i agree that it is unique, but the pose just seem a bit awkward for me,well i guess it's because of the point of view, and the diagonal orientation makes me feel like the cat is going to fall off..
and i think you could've stepped the ISO down a bit because it seems you shot it in plenty light, seeing that some parts are blown out,and since the cat is sleeping i think it would've been ok to shot in a slower shutter speed too
