The only issue I feel with the composition is how the horses are backed right up against the frame. What if you cropped each horse right through the belly? Just an idea.

Exposure-wise, parts of the sky look blown out and something about the ground doesn't seem quite right. It seems too light without any contrast. I think playing around with your B&W conversion technique could lead to an improved version. Neat shot though, definitely has great potential.

While I like the idea and the background is just gorgeous, the horses aren't playing their parts. The horse on the left appears to be headed in between the center horse and the one on the right, and the horse on the right is just standing there, and appears to be in mid head shake because of a fly. Any horse person would know that they aren't about to get into it. But I love the idea, and you have such beautiful scenery! Perhaps you can capture what you are looking for if you go out there again.

Default The Duel...10 Paces

Thanks for the comments. I am working on correcting the issues with the sky and foreground as well as the cropping.

The Duel title came from the sky which looked kind of stormy and the horse on the left has his ears back and is getting ready to walk forward which as horse people know can be a prelude to aggression. Perhaps it should just be called "10 Paces" or "The Conversation".

Here is the new crop and the color version. Which is better, color or BW. What do you think of the new crop and title.

Thanks for the comments.

Color version with the new crop...nailed it, beautiful shot. Not sure about the title though, but I'm terrible with titles.
