Default Nigel!

Oh my it's been a while! Here I present to all you lovely artists with a photo of my friend's dog Nigel. This dog is her baby, who she saved off the streets about a year ago.

Camera: Canon EOS Rebel T1i
Shutter: 1/250
Aperture: f/4.5
ISO: 400
Flash: Off, did not fire

Editing:
- Overall: Levels adjusting
- Eyes: Dodging and burning to make more prominent
- Nose: Burned

Critique: Composition, color, lighting (is it TOO light?), focus/blur

Have at it!

I think you caught a kind expression. A little too close of a crop at the top of his head- I'd like to see more of it because that's where his ears are and the ears on an animal are like a human's eyebrows- a big part of facial expression lies there. Since his mouth shows up dark against his fur, that is another cute part of his expression. And the little beard, too. It would be nice to see the mouth & chin in focus, although it would be a little tough adjusting your exposure to do so. It seems one needs 1/250 of a second to stop the constant motions an animal makes. Good idea to burn the nose. I think your post processing was tasteful and unnoticeable.

Lovely expression, IMO the crop is a bit too tight. And for PP.. i can say it's nice too.

Default I agree...

I agree with the others that your crop might be a little too close. I would have shown a little more of his head and/or body, and left his face a little more off-center horizontally speaking.

I also know how hard it is to get your dog to do exactly what you want when you want, haha.

I love it. Great capture, great depth of field, nice and crisp. Coloring/lightness seems just perfect to me. Great editing, too--I didn't realize you did anything until I read your post more carefully.

I'd frame it, critics be damned.
