Hi,
little Masazi was found on the road from swaziland to Mozambique. My friend just decided to take it home and i decided to take a shot at him.... Canon 450d 50mm lens AV 1.6 FL 50mm i didn't use any flash but set my white balance to flash mode. just to see the difference. I can't seem to get this wow factor with my shots, and it is difficult to get an eye focus with the autofocus on. How do i do this? well leave it to the experts.. thanks Equinoxe |

Nice composition and subject but your focus is definitely off here, and the white balance is a little wonky.
What mode was this shot in? You might want to try a narrower aperture so you can get more in focus until you get the hang of wide-aperture shots. You can also always just switch to manual focus and do it that way, though that can be difficult with a fast-moving subject like a kitten. I would suggest taking a few shots in P mode and then looking at the settings the camera chooses and going from there. For example, if the camera chooses a shutter speed of 1/500 and it's too bright, then you can pop it into manual mode and try a faster shutter speed. I find this to be a handy way to figure out for yourself what works and what doesn't. As for the white balance, the best way to get the right white balance is to take a picture of a piece of white paper in whatever lighting you'll be working with, then use that to set the Custom white balance in the camera. It just takes an extra minute and it'll save you a lot of time in editing later
