Any specific point you wanna ask?
I think the image needs a bit sharpening, the face especially seems soft focused, was it shot from behind a glass?

Looking at the original size,it seems that there are green tinges too, especially on the grasses.
For free software, maybe you could try GIMP,or if you want it simple try picasa

Thanks for your comments/suggestions. This was taken in Jan 2010. We had lovely day with "high" in 50s so there was very little grass but lots of hay which the Zoo had put for animals to relax on. I guess retouching, i.e. cropping and increasing/decreasing hues is a norm? Sorry I'm new to this photography thing.

Oh so those are hay,I thought they're dead grasses, pardon my mistake
![]() yea, doing some basic post-processing like cropping, adjusting brightness, contrast, levels and such is nothing out of the ordinary, and if you do want to get creative and do some heavy editing then by all means do it

I would definitely do a little plus contrast, crop some from right side and for sure use the "unsharp" filter to crisp the focus up. You might also boost the hue a little and other things, but do them BEFORE the unsharp filter (that should be last).
Good luck. Gimp is Great for those of us who cannot afford PhotoShop. |

By the way, some basic adjustments are typical with digital cameras.
I know there are many who insist you must get it "in camera", but the truth is that most digital sensors tend to be sort of "flat" with colors. I shoot Canon and set my colors to "vivid" in the menus, but I still often boost the hue about 10-15 in Gimp and generally boost the contrast the same. Depending on the available light and time of day of the shoot, I might also boost or reduce the brightness a little also. These small amounts of adjustment really help a digital image without SCREAMING look at me and my post production skills!!! In other words, I keep it subtle. Most would never know that my photos are "adjusted" since it is so subtle, yet compared side by side with the originals it is obvious. |

I hold different point of view, photography is about creativity. if the picture is about sleeping, you can actually make this image look softer ! (really soft to create some dreamy effect) and it will look he really enjoys the sleep To make this image look more creative! |
